Blake Hornblow worked as a sea kayak guide in Milford Sound when the Tawaki Project started. Apparently, none of our presentations were repelling enough for him not to consider going down the Marine Science rabbit hole. Because that is what his actually did. And he chose tawaki has the subject for his Master thesis at the Department of Marine Sciences at the University of Otago. More specifically, he investigates the food preferences of penguins from Doubtful Sound using stable isotope and PenguCam data. With the MSc in the bag, he globetrotted for a while as kayak guide in the Arctic region before coming back to work at the Department of Conservation in Te Anau. He is now our main point of contact for all work tawaki.
